Tonight on AEW Dynamite, we have a double dose of tag team action!
First up, Jamie Hayter is back in action after coming off an injury. She looks to regroup with her Brawling Birds tag team partner, Alex Windsor, as they face Emily Jaye and Jordan Blade. Fortunately for The Brawling Birds, they kill two birds with one stone and pick up a quick win.
Backstage, we hear from Skye Blue and the AEW Women’s World Champion, Thekla. They both give a little message to The Brawling Birds.
The AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championships are on the line as Hikaru Shida and Kris Statlander challenge The Divine Dominion for the titles. Renee Paquette had talked with Shida earlier and says that both Shida and Statlander will use their seven years of tag team experience to take the gold.
Lena Kross and Shida start it off, but the double team with Megan Bayne leaves Shida in a hard place. Shida looks to fight back the only way she knows how, with her kendo stick, but Statlander wants to play fair. This inadvertently works in their favor as Bayne crashes into the ringpost. However, Shida kicks her own tag team partner and suplexes her right into Bayne.
Statlander is left to deal with Bayne and Kross as she tries to tag out to Shida, but The Divine Dominion doesn’t want to let that happen. Shida finally gets the tag in as she tries to fend off the champions. Statlander makes a blind tag in, but as all chaos ensues, the champs end up piled. This situation calls for Statlander to hit a 450 splash, but to only get a two-count.
Shida tags herself in, as she tries to take out Kross with a Falcon Arrow. The Divine Dominion take out Statlander and plant Shida to retain their titles.
