CM Punk got into a heated incident with a fan who crossed some personal boundaries at the WWE talent hotel. Did he face any punishment for his role in the incident?
Punk lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Roman Reigns at WWE WrestleMania 42. After the event, CM Punk got into an altercation with a fan in the lobby of the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino on the Vegas Strip. Video footage posted by TMZ Sports captured Punk slapping the phone out of the fan’s hand, which came after the fan filmed Bayley hugging AJ Lee in the WWE talent hotel lobby.
Another witness said Punk got involved after the fan put his arm around AJ for a selfie, even though she had said no. Security and TNA’s Ace Steel got between CM Punk and the fan before things could escalate.
TMZ released new footage from the fan’s phone and reported that the fan was asking for an apology. This was one of several incidents WWE talent faced this weekend. PWInsider also reported that Damian Priest had to help a female WWE star get away from a group of fans. Booker T and Sean Waltman both said that fans filmed them in the bathroom.
Was CM Punk punished for slapping a fan’s phone out of their hand?
Despite the speculation that CM Punk might be punished for getting involved, it doesn’t appear that he’s facing any disciplinary action. According to Fightful (via Fightful Select), CM Punk “faced no disciplinary action for the fan incident during WrestleMania week.”
CM Punk has been very vocal about fans recognizing boundaries with talent in the past. Punk seemed to be in a good mood even after his defeat at WWE WrestleMania 42, as he was seen putting on a fan’s “CM Punk is a babygirl” shirt while making his way to the back after the match. However, it’s clear that he draws the line when it comes to fans invading his personal space and filming his wife and colleagues. It seems like he didn’t appreciate fans swarming his wife and friend at their hotel, which is totally understandable.
