Will Ospreay says he’s been cleared for a bit.
Ospreay had been sidelined since late 2025 after neck surgery. It looked like he was close to a return, as AEW had started airing teaser videos about his return. However, an exact date for his in-ring return was never promoted.
Ospreay made his long-awaited return at AEW Revolution, appearing after Jon Moxley’s successful AEW Continental Championship defense against Konosuke Takeshita. After a cinematic-style video package about Ospreay’s recovery played, the former International Champion then made his way out and went straight after Moxley and the Death Riders. Ospreay’s neck issues were written into a storyline with the Death Riders, who attacked him to write him off of television to have neck surgery.
One day after his return, Will Ospreay shared when he finally got cleared to return to AEW. The Aerial Assassin shared a ringside video of his return at Revolution. He also included the following dates, the middle being the date he got cleared. According to Ospreay, he’s been cleared for more than two weeks.
“Double fusion Surgery date: 17th September 2025. Got cleared: 25th February 2026. Back: 15th March 2026,” he wrote.
Will Ospreay had been actively preparing for his AEW in-ring return
Will Ospreay is back in AEW, but his official in-ring return has not been announced yet. Despite that, the former AEW International Champion has been taking steps toward returning to the ring. According to Fightful Select, he has been working out in the ring ahead of AEW events as part of his rehab process. Sources told the outlet that “things look very promising” regarding his ability to return at the same level he competed at before the injury.
The report also notes growing optimism internally about a possible return sometime this spring. However, no official timetable has been confirmed.
