Chelsea Green explains why she’s okay with being the butt of the joke.
Reigning WWE Women’s United States and AAA Mixed Tag Team Champion Chelsea Green was a recent guest on the INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet podcast. During the conversation, Green explained why she feels it’s worth portraying her goofy character on WWE television.
“Because it gets me views and it gets me a new contract, and it gets me a raise, and it bought me my new house, and honestly, hopefully in the next year, it gets me numerous auditions. You know what I mean? Hopefully this parlays into something even bigger than we could have ever imagined, because I was able to tuck my tail between my legs and be the idiot,” Chelsea Green said.
Chelsea Green Has Been Exploring Opportunities Outside WWE
Chelsea Green mentioned getting numerous auditions in the interview. However, this isn’t the first time she’s talked about exploring opportunities outside WWE. During a recent conversation with Deanna Barnert of Woman’s World, Green revealed that she’s been auditioning for various roles and that she’s received some crucial advice from John Cena.
“I’ve been auditioning for role after role, and trying to dabble in the hosting space as well,” she said. “I’m trying to start at the bottom and not cut corners. I want to do it the right way and gain respect within film and TV—not get there because I had it handed to me on a WWE silver platter.
“My husband and I go on double dates with John and Shay, every couple months, and the knowledge that comes out of him is incredible. He totally has my back and if I just continue to touch base with him, I’ll continue to get those little bits of information and advice that are so crucial when you’re on this journey of trying to figure out what you want to do next,” Chelsea Green said.
