The Rock appears to be having second thoughts when it comes to his stance on running for President of the United States.
WWE Superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recently spoke with Variety while out promoting his upcoming movie, The Smashing Machine. When asked if he had any interest in running for President of the United States, Johnson’s answer raised a lot of eyebrows.
“It’s wild, man. I’m always honored when people ask that,” The Rock admitted. “I love what I do. I love storytelling. But yeah… we’ll see.”
This is a stark contrast to his comments to CBS back in 2022, when he declared the idea of running for President was off the table.
“It’s off the table. Yes. It is off the table,” The Rock said. “I will say this because it requires a B-side to this. I love our country and everyone in it, I also love being a daddy. And that’s the most important thing to me is being a daddy, number one, especially during this time, this critical time in my daughters’ lives.
“I know what it was like to be on the road and be so busy that I was absent for a lot of years in my first daughter [Simone]’s [life]. Growing up in this critical age at this critical time in their life, and that’s what the presidency will do. So my number one priority is my daughters. Sure, CEO sounds great. But the number one thing I wanna be is daddy. That’s it.”
With The Rock appearing to have a change of heart from a few years ago, the next few years heading into the 2028 election could become very interesting.
