Following the successful launch of this initiative last year, the Hill Running Commission are again organising a range of Come Try U13 Training sessions across Scotland on Saturday 1 March.
Hill running is a friendly, exciting and challenging sport, perfect for developing strength, balance and agility which are important in all athletic disciplines.
No previous experience is needed to take part, so if you have ever wondered what hill running is all about, why not give it a go?
For the slightly older athletes we have an U18 training day on Sunday 2 March in the beautiful village of St Fillans in Perthshire – see below for more info.

Come Try U13 Training Days
There will be five Come Try days across Scotland. These are designed for younger athletes who would like to try off road running:
*with thanks to Crieff Hydro Family of Hotels for their ongoing support
The morning will run from 10am to 1pm and will teach some basic hill running skills and be a fairly gentle and supportive introduction to the discipline.
Please sign up to the event you would like to attend. https://forms.gle/fZ1nbCHkGVcZ1QLX6

Junior U18 Training Day
Older juniors (those who will be U15 up to U18 for the 2025 hill running season) should head to Sandison Hall in St Fillans on the banks of Loch Earn on Sunday 2 March.
We’ll train on the slopes above the village and work both on hill fitness and skills during the session.
It’s also a great way of getting to know fellow hill runners ahead of the busy season ahead.
Robbie Simpson, Mountain Running International and Commonwealth Marathon Bronze Medallist, will be on hand at our U18 Training Day to share his experience and insights.
The day will run from 10am to 3pm.

Each day is run by qualified coaches on behalf of the Scottish Athletics Hill Running Commission.
The days are open to anyone and are not organized by a specific club, so our young athletes can come try irrespective of who they normally train with.
Special thanks to the volunteers who are helping out on the training days.
