A Paralympic long jump champion, Olympic medallists from Paris 2024 and top Scots are headed for our first-ever EAP Indoor International in Glasgow early next month.
And tickets are still available for the eagerly-anticipated event at the Emirates Arena on Sunday 2 February (6pm to 9pm programme).
World Athletics have given the event ‘Challenger’ status and we are close to selling our initial allocation of 1000 tickets.
Final start-lists are still being prepared with guests from across Europe and Britain but we are delighted today to confirm a number of exciting names:
*Dutch athlete Joel De Jong – Men’s T63 Long Jump Paralympic champion
*Irish Olympians Phil Healy and Sharlene Mawdsley in the Women’s 400m
*Dutch Olympians Eugene Omalla and Isaya Klein Ikkink – gold medallists in Paris in the Mixed 4x400m – in the Men’s 400m
*Swiss athlete Felix Svensson in the Men’s 200m – Indoor Record Holder and 2024 Olympian
*Italian athlete Diego Alto Pettorossi in the Men’s 200m – former Italian Champion and 2024 Olympian
Scottish athletes will be involved, of course, and there are opportunities for U18 and Para athletes, too.
*Olympian Zoey Clark is set to feature in the Women’s 400m
*Long Jump trio Stephen Mackenzie, Alessandro Schenini and Murray Fotheringham will compete with Joel de Jong in the Men’s Long Jump.
*Kane Elliott leads the Scots in the Men’s 1500m and could threaten the Indoor Native Record (held at 3:43.13 from 1996).
*Sarah Calvert will feature in the Women’s 800m.
The event is the first of its kind to be held in Scotland. Refurbishment work last winter upgraded the world class Emirates Arena in preparation for the hugely successful 2024 World Indoors.
One year on from that action, the athletes will be hoping the track proves to be as fast as it was for that event.
The action will happen over a three-hour session beginning at 6pm, with the 60m sprint and hurdles, 200m, 400m, 800m (Women), 1500m (Men), 5000m, Long Jump (Men) and High Jump (Women) all set to feature.
Tickets are on sale priced at just £8.50. A special offer for clubs or groups will see this price reduced to just £5 per ticket when purchasing 10 or more.
