Jim Smallman, the creative mind behind many memorable moments in WWE NXT, has made his next move official.
After recently stepping down from his position as Senior Writer/Producer to return to the UK and prioritize family, Smallman revealed he’s not leaving WWE entirely. Instead, he’s taking on a fresh role as the WWE International Talent Scout.
Smallman shared the exciting update via LinkedIn, writing, “Delighted to share that I’m starting a new position as International Talent Scout at WWE! Have loved my six years of working for WWE so far, and it’s wonderful that I can now combine being back in the UK for my family with still contributing to the business that I adore so much.”
This new chapter comes as WWE continues expanding its global reach, with every WWE show now streaming on Netflix in Europe. Smallman expressed his enthusiasm about the opportunities ahead, stating, “It’s a very exciting time for wrestling on this continent, so I am very much looking forward to seeing what the future holds.”
Just weeks ago, Smallman announced his departure from NXT creative, citing the challenge of being away from his family while working in Florida. “It’s impossible to be a good dad from 4000 miles away,” he explained on Instagram. “It’s time to head home and make up for lost time.” While leaving the creative team marked the end of an era, Smallman’s gratitude for his journey was evident. He credited Shawn Michaels and Triple H for his growth, saying, “I’m forever grateful to Shawn and Hunter for giving me my chance.”
Now back in the UK, Smallman’s role as International Talent Scout positions him at the forefront of identifying and developing the next generation of global wrestling stars. Fans are eager to see how his expertise will shape WWE’s future talent roster.
