Leeds United have been praised for making a U-turn after backlash to their expensive matchday ticket prices for away fans next season.

The Whites were slammed by a thousands for publishing a ‘disgraceful’ away ticket price, despite being relegated from the Premier League.

Travelling supporters looked set to being priced out with the ticket price for away days set at £30, the club deciding to charge more to see second tier football.

Category A games was priced at £47 for an adult, and Category B costing £45 an adult.

Away ticket prices for concessions were also higher than that of Premier League tickets, costing £32 for Category A and £31 for Category B.

There has been a further update however, as the Leeds United Supporters Club have told their members that the club have now agreed to a reduced away ticket price for clubs who agree to charge the same in the reverse fixture.

This means that Leeds will now charge Cardiff City fans £24 a ticket for the opening day at Elland Road.

The reciprocal deal action has been welcomed by LUFC Turst who responded: “Now the question is will other Championship clubs reciprocate? No movement for home fans at £50 though.”

Here’s what Twitter users had to say with Leeds praised for their U-turn after backlash to the expensive matchday ticket prices for away fans…

@TheExiledRobin: Do it for the away fans 🙏 @BristolCity @BristolCitySLO @JonLansdown

@CllrDanielFry: Should be twenty is plenty for away fans

@craigtaggart96: And so they should @Coventry_City don’t mess this up and charge them silly prices cause all it will do is affect the fans for the away leg

@Coach_Swales: Love it. Can the person who negotiated this please take over player transfers?

@NicktheHornet: Glad to hear it although it shouldn’t have been allowed to happen in the first place

@RocknRichRockin: That is, approx £100 cheaper than my season ticket at Leeds, at the opposite end of the main stand, if we were in the Prem, about the same for 23 games in champ. Good to see, like others have said, maybe an equal allocation (min 3000) of £20 away tickets would be a good idea

@montyoxymoron: It’s basically what happens in the premier league. Away fans paying £30 sat next to home fans paying double. Fine by me.

@GL72: I’ve said for years that away fans should be charged the same amount at every ground.

@jamesonrgb: That’s good, but still ripping off the home fans!

@davesmarshall: That’s great, but I’d be concerned that the people running the club are so detached from their own fans.

@dwj66: A very positive move

@sam24lufc: Still gonna charge their own home fans £47 mind

@SimonWatfordFc: Very sensible lets hope all clubs do the same

@Funky_Boite: Common sense prevails it seems

@McMcandrew: The right thing to do, now over to you Sheffield Wednesday

@GingerOgre: Fair play to Leeds. Obviously listenes to the views of its supporters club. I think fan in England underestimate how much power. If we can together more often on matters such as this then we could really start to drive change within English football.

@jordanhewlett99: Can’t wait for Jon shithouse Lansdown to turn this down, not a chance he’ll turn down the chance of Leeds shifting their allocation at £33 a pop

@DebsHLUFC: Well done to the supporters club – LUSC. Let’s hope others agree with it. Will be great to get the away section full most games

@Twe12thman: Can @Boro do this please. £47 is disgraceful

@ElisDavies5: Well the outrage worked. Still unbelievable they even tried to charge that amount.

@HTFCdooks: If this is true then hats off to them. Might actually go now.

@Gavrisk: @swfc please charge leeds £25 so leeds charge us same. Although chansiri will probably agree to £59 😂 #swfc

@ianxwiles: Does Chansiri still read twitter? #swfc

@IanBurnell27: Common sense been quickly found then, their still absolutely mugging their own fans off tho

@MacIsBack_93: It shouldn’t have needed fans kicking off, but fair play for that. Encourages other clubs to treat our fans well

@Benhadlington1: Great news If so! Common sense prevails

@LambSteve: This sounds more like it. If the Wendies follow suit, we’re sorted 👀

@PureLeeds: All the comments about it’s still a rip off for Leeds fans (which it is) but despite the ownership being in limbo, players leaving and none coming in and no idea when the mess will be sorted, when tickets go on sale next week, the game will be sold out in minutes.

@Jack_Nattress: Hope this is true, I do wanna go Leeds away but that pricing is disgusting

@mark42swfc: How it should be done

@kianlufc: That’s great but what about the £40 odd home tickets lads, sort them out too

@Wbafcleigh11: That’s better question is now will albion do the right thing and charge them £20 when they visit us, so in return we only have to pay £20, something clubs should do more often #wba

@ccfctm: That’s more like it

@t1wnyscott: I’m all for this. We get the highest prices at most stadiums so charge what each other charge is a winner. Now cap it at £30.

@OwenG_CCFC: Twenty’s plenty an all that

@_lukecollo: why can’t we just cap all football tickets at £25/£30

@JoshCrook9: How they even justified the first price is bonkers! No wonder a few teams including us have sacked off that away day in the past

@_Joelufc: Common sense at Leeds? Shock

@AshleyDavies4: Thats more like it 👌
