Lots of ratings numbers out there but the fact remains that golf is more popular than ever. People have more choices in how they consume that….
Ratings ambiguity and bad data (or no data) on how golf fans consume their pro golf be damned… Charles isn’t wrong. The PGA Tour has been losing steam since the rise of LIV Golf. Sure, they’ve got history, they’ve got tradition, and if you tune in before 3pm on Sunday’s they’ll give you three dollars off your Rooty Tooty Fresh n’ Fruity. If you get that reference than you probably have your own history and tradition. The point is the PGA’s approach is antiquated. Dated. And desperately needs a refresh. The Creator Classic was a baby step in the right direction but there’s still so much to do.
LIV came in hot with flashy events, big money, fresh broadcast looks, but they have a format that… let’s face it… stinks. A solo winner and a team winner for every event? The two seem to rarely match up and it kinda feels like “everyone gets a trophy”. LIV do yourself a favor pick a format. Make some events team matches and others individuals. Make yearend events for both if you want but the current format is hot garbage.
LIV is officially here to stay and if the PGA doesn’t admit that soon the PGA Tour will continue to lose ground in the market.
The second coming of Tiger Woods is walking through that door. And if he did? He’s probably been on YouTube for a decade and will take the bag from LIV. The PGA Tour needs to wake up before they find themselves in the company of Blockbuster, Kodak, and CashMeOutsideGirl. I hope my sweet Hawk Tua girl stays on top forever.
I’m here to help you PGA. Maybe I’m a sucker for history and tradition. When it comes to LIV and PGA, fans are tired of this spit. Sorry split. And I’m sorry if that’s hard to swallow. See what I did there? The drama was fun for about a week, now it’s lame. If these guys don’t figure it out soon golf YouTubers will reign supreme. To be honest they kind of already do.
So assuming professional golf isn’t dead thanks to infighting and the rise of YouTube. What’s the solution? Well, I’ve been saying it since the merger first leaked in June of 2023—give us a Golf Super Bowl! Let’s see a showdown between the best of the PGA and the best of LIV.

The way I see it, this isn’t just a match or a series—it’s a war. Go full Vince McMahon here and embrace it. PGA vs LIV is the modern WWE vs WCW. Make it what all of professional sports is supposed to be. ENTERTAINMENT.
