WWE held RAW at Madison Square Garden on March 10, followed by the NXT Roadblock event on March 11. WWE Roadblock took place at The Theater at MSG, with high stakes throughout the event.
Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer faced off in a Winner Takes All Match for the NXT Women’s Championship and the NXT Women’s North American Championship. Giulia entered the match as the NXT Women’s Champion, while Vaquer held the NXT Women’s North American Championship. One competitor walked away with both titles.
There were reports that Giulia was injured going into Roadblock. That added an interesting twist to this story, since both Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer are both just starting their reigns as champion.
This match closed out the Roadblock show, and fans were on the edge of their seats to see how it would turn out. Mike Rome also gave this contest a big fight feel with his pre-match introductions.
This match started out with a bit of a stalemate as the two felt each other out. Fans chanted for both competitors. They battled through a commercial break, as they both fought hard outside of the ring.
This was a back-and-forth contest, and the match lived up to one of the biggest women’s matches in NXT history. They ended up battling on the top rope, where Giulia was able to nail a superplex. They kept going after that, where Stephanie Vaquer took some punishment from the NXT Women’s Champion.
Then Stephanie Vaquer landed a SBD, but Giulia was able to kick out. Then Vaquer went for a Spinal Tap off the top rope, but Giulia caught her in a Rings of Saturn submission. Finally, Vaqeur was able to get her legs over the bottom rope. Giulia landed her knee strike, but Vaquer kicked out of that too.
They kept going as Stephanie Vaquer landed two still kicks and another SBD followed by a final one for the win. Roadblock went off the air with Vaquer celebrating with her two titles as the confetti fell down around her. It will be very interesting to see what happens from this point on in the NXT Women’s Division, but this was certainly a huge night for the brand.
