WWE Hall of Famer RVD is known for being laid-back and staying out of most issues, but he doesn’t hold back when it matters. In fact, he has now called out a wrestling promoter for cheating him and using his name for their business.
While speaking on the 1 of a Kind podcast, RVD shared his frustrations about his former agent, Dylan Hines, over unprofessional behavior. RVD worked with Hines for many years on autograph signings and wrestling events, but he questioned how Hines could talk about professionalism when, according to RVD, Hines and his father, Bobby Fulton, didn’t treat him fairly.
RVD explained that Hines and Fulton once told him they were leaving the wrestling business, but they continued running events. He also criticized their refusal to use contracts or pay deposits, which he believes are important for fairness. When RVD first asked Fulton for a deposit, Fulton refused but promised there wouldn’t be any issues.
“Mr. Dylan was my agent, uh, for a long time. We did a lot of shows, uh, autograph shows together. And, um, so, so, like, when I first heard that—what you just heard today—my first thought was that I wanted to, I wanted to speak up and say, ‘How can you say professionalism is what’s missing out there when you and your dad ripped me off, told me you’re quitting the business, and then you’re still somehow in the business? Like, still running shows? Like, how is that?’
So, anyway, I think, um, what is missing in the business that would make it better would be contracts, for one. Um, deposits. Because I always work for a deposit. But when I asked Bobby—his dad, Bobby Fulton—for a deposit, uh, when I first started working for him, he said the same thing that he says about contracts. He says, ‘No, I don’t do them, but you never have to worry about me f****** you.’
Things escalated during WrestleMania weekend in Philadelphia when RVD claimed Hines didn’t pay him what he was owed. RVD said he had to figure out the situation himself to prove the money was missing. Hines and Fulton then promised to pay him over time at future shows, but RVD claimed they never followed through.
“All right, cool. Now fast forward, and—and this is a question to Dylan: Like, how do you call yourself professional? And if so, how, when you ripped me off? Uh, WrestleMania weekend in Philly, you made me fight and do my own investigation to prove that you owed me money. And then you—and then you said, uh, you and your dad said that you would pay me over the next several weeks at these shows. But instead of paying me, you shorted me. And then you shored me again. How, if you do, do you call yourself professional?”
RVD explained that it was during SummerSlam when they stiffed him for the second time, back in August. That’s when everything came to a head. He mentioned that Bobby and Dylan are essentially the same, with Dylan being the one who ripped him off, but Bobby promised he would be paid over time.
RVD questioned whether Dylan had simply written off the debt and referenced the message Dylan left him. He clarified that there’s no issue between them, but to resolve things, Dylan just needs to pay what he owes. However, RVD stated he doesn’t expect to receive the payment and described the situation as it stands with him, Dylan, and Bobby Fulton.
“We’re realizing it was SummerSlam when they stiffed me the second time, and that was way back in August. That was when it all came to a head. Bobby and Dylan, they’re one and the same, you know? Dylan ripped me off, but it was Bobby who said I’d be getting paid over time. But did Dylan just write off that debt? I got your message, Dylan, the one you left me. There’s no hatchet to bury. Just pay me what you owe me, and we’re cool. But, honestly, I don’t expect to get it. That’s the situation when it comes to me, you, or your dad.”
RVD added that he saw a poster for a wrestling show on December 14th that Dylan and his dad seemed to be running. The show looked big, with many well-known people involved, and was called “December to Remember.” RVD thought about calling to confirm the show, but there was no contact number listed. He felt he needed to speak out after seeing footage and hearing that Dylan was using his name to make himself look more credible.
RVD stated that if anyone is thinking of working with Dylan Hines because he’s claiming to have booked Rob Van Dam, they should know the full story. He does not work with Dylan because Dylan ripped him off, and his father did the same thing several times. Instead of paying him, they said they were quitting the business, with Bobby Fulton always saying he was done, but kept coming back.
RVD also mentioned hearing that Dylan booked Hulk Hogan for a private signing. He made it clear that if anyone thinks RVD approves of this show, they’re wrong—he does not approve.
“But then I see this poster for a wrestling show on December 14th that he and his dad appear to be running. Look at this, it’s a WrestleMania. Everybody in the industry is there. There’s a lot of folks on there. December to remember, yep. I was going to call and just make sure that the show was on, but there’s no number or anything. I feel now obligated just because I see that there’s footage out there and a whole 38 people sharing that Dylan is using my name to establish his credibility. I feel obligated to let everyone know: hey, if you’re taking bookings from this guy because he’s saying that he booked Rob Van Dam and that’s making him a big shot, and that’s why you want to work with him, then I gotta tell you the rest of the story. I don’t work with him because he screwed me over, then his dad screwed me over, and then his dad screwed me over again. And then they said they’re quitting. Instead of paying me, they’re quitting.
They’re done with the business. Or Bobby, his dad, Dylan, you know, he always is quitting every other week and whatever, but he’s quitting. But now he’s running this WrestleMania? And I saw that Dylan got Hulk Hogan allegedly booked for a private signing somewhere. So I just want to say for the record, for anybody listening that thinks, ‘Since RVD approves it, it’s cool,’ no, RVD does not approve it.”
RVD also called out modern-day pro wrestlers for copying each other’s moves. Ultimately, WWE Hall of Famer felt it was important to make it clear that he was cheated by Dylan Hines and wanted to make sure no one else had to deal with the same problems he faced.
