TNA iMPACT Results

This week’s episode of iMPACT kicks off with a recap of the confrontation between The System and Matt Cardona from last week. We then revisit Eric Young’s assault on Sami Callihan ahead of their match. The recap caps off with the post-match confrontation between participants of the Champions Challenge set for tonight.

Eric Young (w/ The Northern Armory) vs. Sami Callihan

  • The finish of the match saw Eric Young put away Calliahan with a piledriver following a distraction by The Northern Armory.

Winner: Eric Young

Grade: B-

A solid way to kick off the 23rd anniversary episode of TNA iMPACT. EY’s heel antics are over the tope. Sami Callihan continues to remain one of the most reliable workers in TNA. The controversial ending teases more to come between these two men.

We are transported backstage where the babyface participants for tonight’s Champions Challenge are being interviewed. Joe Hendry recaps his feud with Trick Williams. Hendry says he believes in this five-star team. Leon Slater hypes up his upcoming X-Division Championship match at Slammiversary against Moose before putting over his team’s chances for this week. The Rascalz wonder if they should kick Steve Maclin’s ass. Joe Hendry says they should.

Order 4 Implodes!

Mustafa Ali is addressing the citizens of TNA. Ali says he’s going to do a job performance evaluation for each member of Order 4. Ali stars with Press Secretary Tasha Steelz. Ali lists down favors Order 4 has given Tasha Steez. Ali says Tasha has been lying. He gets heated with fans trying to hijack his promo. Ali references Tasha’s conversation with “him.” He asks for her phone. Ali delivers a warning to Tasha and tells her to apologize for lying to him. Tasha apologizes but Ali still tells her to “get the hell out of my ring.”

Ali brings Hotch next. He berates Hotch for standing up to him. Hotch fires back over Ali’s assault on Tasha. He says he’ll stand up every time Ali puts his hand on a woman. He tells Ali his wife and daughter were in the stands watching when Ali shoved Tasha. Ali reminds Hotch about the favors he’s owed. He tells Hotch to apologizes. Hotch reluctantly does. Ali tells him to get out of the ring.

John Skylar’s next. Ali calls him the most “loyal” member of Order 4. But Skylar unloads on him for being disrespectful to Tasha and Hotch. Skylar reminds Ali of his family at home. He says he doesn’t have a family because his family is Order 4. Ali tells Skylar to “get on your hands and knees and apologize.” Skylar gets in Ali’s face and tells him no. Ali shoves him back. Skylar puts him down. Ali sets up a “call to arms” match with Skylar for next week’s TNA iMPACT.

Killer Kelly is coming after the Knockouts Championship

We get a video promo from Killer Kelly hyping up her TNA Knockouts Championship match against Masha Slamovich at Slammiversary. For those wondering, Kelly won a multi-woman number one contender’s match to cement herself as the next contender to her former MK-Ultra tag team partner.

Masha Slamovich and Lei Ying Lee vs. Ash and Heather By Elegance

  • The finish of the match saw Ash plant Masha with her elbow drop following a distraction by Killer Kelly.

Winner: Ash and Heather By Elegance

Grade: B-

The surprise outcome gets this match a B- from this writer. The Elegance Brand have been getting jobber treatment despite being the reigning TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champions as of late. So, seeing them getting a win was quite the surprise this writer wasn’t expecting.

The IInspiration are watching

We get a backstage promo from the IInspiration to tease their upcoming feud with The Elegance Brand. This writer was a fan of their backstage stuff years ago but it can’t decide if their current gimmick will help them legitimatize TNA’s tag tag division.

Santino Marella is in the ring

Marella hypes up Slammiversary. He then says Mike Satana will return to action next week after being suspended for two weeks. Marella then introduces Tommy Dreamer to the TNA iMPACT zone. He revisits Mance Warner’s assault on Dreamer. Marella asks Dreamer if he wants to get his hands on Warner. Steph De Lander interrupts. De Lander mocks Dreamer by calling him washed. She says he might be the Innovator of Violence but her man, Mance Warner, is the most violent man in all of TNA.

Jake Something’s back on TNA iMPACT

Dreamer takes the mic and tells Steph his in-ring days might be behind him but he has something else in store for the pair. Enters Jake Something. The big man makes quick work of Warner before celebrating his TNA iMPACT return with Dreamer.

We see Indi Hartwell confronting Tessa Blanchard backstage. Indi wants to give Tessa a history lesson but Tessa reminds them of their history together. Indi says she used to believe Tessa wanted to help everyone but she’s proving everyone right with her antics.

Matt Cardona & The Home Town Man vs. The System

  • The finish of the match saw Home Town Man pin Eddie Edwards via a small package for the win.

Winners: Matt Cardona and The Home Town Man

After the match, Eddie loses it and jumps HTM. Cardona clears the ring and gets in Brian Myers face. Myers is clearly struggling to pick side. Edwards and JDC jump Cardona from behind. The heels do their pose but Myers doesn’t raise his arm. He’s conflicted because that’s his former best friend and tag team partner destroyed in the ring.

Grade: B-

Home Town Man got the biggest pop of the match. This was a fun tag team match with the bigger focus on Myers’ future with The System. Will we see a reunion somewhere down the line? Only time will tell.

Next week on TNA iMPACT!

  • The Hardys vs. The Northern Armory (w/ Eric Young)
  • Knockouts Tag Team Titles No. 1 Contendership Battle Royal
  • Mustafa Ali vs. John Skylar – Call to Arms match
  • We’ll hear from Joe Hendry
  • Mike Santana vs. AJ Francis – FIR$T CLA$$ Street Fight

Trick Williams, Steve Maclin, Moose, and The Nemeths (Nic and Ryan Nemeth) vs. Joe Hendry, Elijah, Leon Slater, and The Rascalz (Trey Miguel and Zachary Wentz) – Champions Challenge

  • The finish of the match saw Elijah plant Ryan Nemeth with a pileriver following a Standing Ovation from Joe Hendry to get the win.

Grade: A-

A great main event to cap off TNA’s 23rd anniversary show. Leon Slater was arguably the highlight of the match. Zach Wentz hit hard on the outside and the impact put him out of action for the most part of the match. Wentz, fortunately, returned during the closing stretch to set up a big win for the babyfaces.

Overall Grade: B+

TNA iMPACT’s 23rd anniversary show was a solid viewing experience from start to end. The main event was the best part of the night. Order 4’s implosion was a compelling watch. This writer enjoyed Frankie Kazarian’s commentary during the main event. I grew up watching Kaz become a credible player during TNA’s glory years and it’s great that he’s still performing at a a high level with the company.
