Matt Hardy and TNA have big plans in the new year.

Earlier this week, TNA confirmed that the Hardys put pen to paper and signed a new contract with the promotion. Terms of the contract were not disclosed at the time.

On the latest episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt confirmed that he and Jeff signed a one-year deal. Matt also spoke about the great working relationship the two sides have, adding that TNA has plans to continue growing in 2025.

“I’ve been enlightened with some of the plans that TNA has for 2025. They are hoping to move to a bigger platform. They are still looking to grow, they have a lot of cool stuff planned. I love some of the marketing strategies they have and we’ve had a really great relationship working with them,” Matt Hardy explained. We discussed this over the last couple of months about maybe doing a deal for X amount of dates or whatever it may be, but they’ve been there every step of the way. Everything they said they were going to do for us, they’ve done, they followed through, they came through with it, and vice versa. I think we’ve done that for them as well. So the relationship has been great.

Matt Hardy confirms how long their new contract is

“We ended up signing with them for a year,” Hardy confirmed. “We signed for a year, so a year from now, we’re going to be around in TNA. It’s also a great working relationship as far as if there’s anything we want to do on the outside, we just talk with them and get their blessing and we should be cool to do it. So we’re still open and we’re going to be doing stuff and it gives us some ideas about cool stuff we can do to evolve the characters and start to re-evolve Matt and Jeff Hardy in this newest and latest run.

“But I think too, having us signed, under contract to TNA, is a great pitch if you are going to a TV station or to a certain area or market and you’re looking to get more momentum behind you. So, now we are both officially with TNA and we’re both very proud to officially be with TNA and we’re both very, very excited about the future and the new year. 2025 is going to be a big year.”

Matt Hardy took a proactive approach to rejoining TNA

The Hardys spoke with WrestleZone about their return to TNA. Before their official return, Hardy said they had discussions about how and where they were used.

“Yes. I was very proactive in discussing going to Fayetteville, going to Raleigh. I knew [TNA] were going to take part and participate in the WrestleCade Weekend. So yeah, I thought that was beneficial,” Matt Hardy said. “I think we are very much hometown boys and we have a strong fanbase here. So, yeah, we did have a say on that and I was interested in that.”

Matt said it’s great because they are popular in many regions. TNA is also finding success by leaning into things that have grown organically.

“The first thing that stands out is Joe Hendry. Joe Hendry is authentically, genuinely, legitimately, organically over. People, they grew and they attached to him in such a natural way and he became such a big star. He’s viral. A lot of what he’s doing now, still reminds me of when Broken Matt Hardy and Brother Nero first got hot, because he is viral everywhere. So, that’s great. The crossover between NXT/WWE and TNA I think that’s very beneficial,” Matt continued. “It adds so much unpredictability to the shows both TNA and NXT. And I think it’s really a great example of how to do a relationship between wrestling brands. I think they’re doing a fantastic job.

“And then myself and Jeff, we’re kind of the older ‘living legends’ who can still compete at a pretty high level and can still go out there,” Matt said. “And if you put us in a position to succeed, we can still do box office. So, it feels great and they’re leaning into all these things.
