Jason Cundy harsh but probably correct on Mykhailo Mudryk – Talk Chelsea

Mykhailo Mudryk is a player who is always going to cause debate and discussion amongst the fan base and the footballing world on the whole.

Former Chelsea player Jason Cundy is always one who speaks his mind and just says what he thinks. I mean, it IS his job to do that after all.

Some people might feel that his latest comments on Mudryk are very harsh, others might agree with him. But one thing is certain, he hasn’t held back on his views about Mudryk, and he certainly doesn’t rate him.

I thought Mudryk had a very good cameo actually against Nottingham Forest on the weekend, and he has done quite well overall in the minutes he has had so far this season. Overall since he’s arrived at Chelsea though, he hasn’t been good enough, nowhere near really.

I still think there is a confidence issue there, but Enzo Maresca says there isn’t and he will know better than me on that. Maresca has almost challenged Mudryk with his public comments about him as well, which appears to be working.

I think Mudryk was hyped up when he arrived, by the club, some fans, and others, and that just didn’t help at all, neither did where we were as a club when he arrived, it was a toxic period.

I’ve spoken a lot about Mudryk recently and in the past, people know my views on him, positive and negative. So I wont go in to all of that again. But personally, the one thing I do agree with Cundy on and have said for a while now, he at the very least needs to go on loan now and just play football with less pressure attached. If we are to see if Mudryk is ever going to make it at Chelsea, or at a top club even, then he needs to go and play and get regular minutes now. I think the sub appearances are helping this season, but to really kick on I believe he needs solid game time now, and he isn’t getting that here.

‘There’s always going to be players like Mudryk who don’t work, who haven’t worked,’ Cundy said on talkSPORT when discussing Chelsea’s transfer strategy in recent years.

‘I think he has got to go out on loan. I don’t see a place for him at the moment. He’s now behind Sancho, he’s behind Neto, he’s behind Noni Madueke, he’s behind Joao Felix.

‘He’s way down that pecking order for me. I don’t see a player in there because you know you have got no football IQ.

‘He is rapid, but at times I feel as though the pace, his feet are too quick for his brain, he can’t quite adjust quick enough. He has got so much under the bonnet, but boy, does he disappoint.’

Harsh words, but probably does hold a lot of truth at this point unfortunately.
