NEW YORK | The Skyline Conference released its third edition of weekly fall reports Tuesday morning, with two Farmingdale State College student-athletes collecting a weekly honor and another four garnering weekly honor roll citations. Conference play continues for many of the Rams’ teams this week, while it’s just over one week away from Homecoming weekend at Farmingdale State, with details about athletics events listed below.

Golf | Skyline Report

Farmingdale State collected a victory Friday afternoon at the seven-team Mount Saint Mary College Invitational (Powelton Club, Newburgh, N.Y.), carding a score of 300 in the process. Freshman CJ Merritt (Plainview, N.Y.) earned medalist honors for the first time in his young career, pacing the field with a score of 72 (plus-2) to earn Skyline Conference Player of the Week kudos. Senior Chris Iguchi (Centereach, N.Y.) finished one stroke behind his teammate to check in with a second-place showing, and was named to the conference’s weekly honor roll.

The Rams are next in action Oct. 1-2, when head coach Ryan Williams leads his team to the Golden Oaks Golf Club in Fleetwood, Pa., for the 36-hole Golden Oaks Shootout.

Women’s Soccer (2-3-1, 1-0 Skyline) | Skyline Report

The Rams posted a strong 1-0-1 weekend in the Keystone State in non-conference action, earning a late 1-1 tie Saturday at DeSales before a pair of goals in the last 21 minutes Sunday by sophomore striker Alyse Rivera (Manhattan, N.Y.) lifted her team to a come-from-behind, 2-1 triumph at Arcadia.

Freshman midfielder Stephanie Alberghine (Medford, N.Y.) provided the game-winning assist in Saturday’s draw against the Bulldogs, while sophomore keeper Gabby Pinero (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) turned aside seven shots in FSC’s win against the Knights to round out weekend play, as both student-athletes joined Rivera on the Skyline’s weekly honor roll.

Head coach Chris Roche‘s squad has three games on the docket this week, including Wednesday night’s 7 p.m., Skyline Conference kickoff at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, before playing host on the weekend to New York University (Sat., 2:30 p.m.) and conference foe St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn (Sun., noon).

Men’s Soccer (2-2-1) | Skyline Report

Farmingdale State saw its Wednesday match at Baruch postponed, before falling 3-0 in a road contest Saturday at 13th-ranked SUNY Oneonta.

Head coach Chuck Schimpf‘s team will kick off Skyline play on the road Tuesday night at 7 p.m. versus the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, before welcoming St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn at home Saturday at noon.

Women’s Volleyball (1-4) | Skyline Report

FSC fell to non-conference foes Western Connecticut and Hunter on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively, and head coach Kellie Block‘s side will open Skyline Conference play Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Purchase College. The Rams will then play host to Brooklyn College Friday at 6 p.m., before hosting a Saturday tri-match with Ramapo and Misericordia, with play commencing at 10 a.m.

Cross Country | Men’s Skyline Report | Women’s Skyline Report

Farmingdale State ran its first of three races this fall at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome in Milton, N.Y., on Friday afternoon, as it competed in the New Paltz Invitational. The men’s side placed fourth out of 13 teams, while the women’s contingent finished eighth.

Freshman men’s standout Zackary Gopie (Floral Park, N.Y.) continued his standout campaign and collected his second Skyline Rookie of the Week accolade, after  placing third as the top-finishing freshman with his 8k time of 28:08.3. Women’s senior Alycia Haynes (Adams Ctr., N.Y.) earned fifth-place points for FSC, completing the 6k loop in a time of 28:14.6 — earning a Skyline weekly honor roll mention in the process.

Head coach Daniela Georgieva‘s teams are back at the Sportsdome on Sunday at 11 a.m. for the Mount Saint Mary College Knight Invitational.

Women’s Tennis (1-2, 1-0 Skyline) | Skyline Report

The Rams dropped a 6-3 decision to visiting Baruch on Thursday, with three singles matches going to three sets and one doubles flight extending to a tiebreaker against the Bearcats. FSC’s Monday evening match at William Paterson was postponed due to the inclement weather.

Three away matches await head coach Adam Waterhouse‘s team this weekend in a northern swing, including competitions at Sage (Fri., 4 p.m.), Plattsburgh (Sat., noon) and Castleton State (Sun., 1 p.m.).
