Following a successful recruitment process, we are delighted that Cara Shearer has been appointed as the Chair of the scottishathletics Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Advisory Group.
Cara brings with her over a decade of leadership experience in developing sport, people, and partnerships at both local and national level.
She was National Club Manager with scottishathletics from January 2021 to August 2023, before moving to sportscotland to take on the role of Partnership Manager.
She also holds the position of Vice Chair of the Board with Scottish Women in Sport and LEAP Sports Scotland.
The EDI Advisory Group was set up in 2017 to provide advice and guidance on all EDI matters, ensuring practical, strategic, and operational support is sustained for the development and delivery of our Equality Action Plan.
The group currently has five members from a variety of backgrounds, experience and perspectives who are passionate about EDI.
Cara will work closely with the members of the Advisory Group and scottishathletics Equalities Officer, Francesca Snitjer, as we continue our journey towards a more inclusive sport.
