Competition: Brazil Serie B
Market: Vila Nova win
Odds: 1/1 @ Pribet
Two sides who find themselves battling it out at opposite ends of the Serie B table, Vila Nova will welcome CRB to Goias in the early hours of Thursday.
Starting with the hosts, eventually falling to a 2-0 loss away at Novorizontino last weekend, Vila Nova will be seeking an immediate response here. Still battling it out in the promotion chase and currently holding a two-point buffer over the chasing pack, the Tigers have their sights firmly set on securing what would be a famous Serie A return. Winning three of their previous four second-tier appearances, Higo Magalhaes’ men will certainly be relishing the chance to make a return to home soil in the early hours of Thursday. Last seen at the Onesio Brasileiro Alvarenga collecting a 1-0 win against fellow promotion hopefuls America MG, Vila Nova have continued to gain a reputation for their continued success in front of their own supporters. Including a 2-0 victory against Sport Recife last month, the Reds are unbeaten in all of their previous eight consecutive appearances in Goias – a run that stems all the way back to May 30th. It should also be highlighted, Magalhaes’ squad have recorded back-to-back clean sheets on home soil for the first time since the middle of June.
As for the visitors, although CRB might have cruised their way to a top-half finish last season, Daniel Paulista’s men have come crashing back down to earth this time around. Scrapping it out at the foot of the Serie B table and at the heart of a relegation scrap, the Alagoas-based outfit have endured a public struggle this year. Last seen putting in another worrying performance as they slumped to a 2-1 defeat at home against Avai, Thursday’s guests have failed to win any of their previous 10 appearances across all competitions – a run that stems back to July 20th. Likewise, crashing out of the Copa do Brasil last month following a routine 3-0 drumming at the hands of Atletico-MG, CRB have also collected just a single point from any of their previous six Serie B showdowns. Facing what should be a stern examination when they travel to the Onesio Brasileiro Alvarenga in midweek, Paulista’s side have also shown some glaring attacking issues. In fact, the Reds have recorded just a single strike across any format since the end of July.
