Two-time world champion Fernando Alonso is about to return to Components One with Renault subsequent 12 months, the BBC reported on Tuesday.
The 38-year-old Spaniard has already signed for the French staff and an announcement will likely be made quickly, sources advised BBC Sport.
Renault declined to remark when contacted by AFP.
He left Components One in 2018 after 4 fruitless years at McLaren and is because of make a 3rd try and win the Indianapolis 500 with McLaren in August.
A return to Renault means Alonso will likely be reunited with the outfit with whom he received his world championship crowns in 2005 and 2006.
Renault wants a substitute for Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo, who will be part of McLaren on the finish of this season.
