AJ Lee and CM Punk are both back together in WWE, and soon, they’ll be together in the ring for a huge match.
During Monday’s episode of WWE RAW, AJ Lee came down to the ring for the first time since her shocking return last week, and was wearing Becky Lynch’s WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship. In the ring, she explained her long absence from not only WWE, but wrestling in general. Introducing herself as “your favorite wrestler’s favorite wrestler,” Lee joked about how some fans’ millennial parents might be happy to see her.
The star said that, ten years ago, she believed she had accomplished all of her dreams in the ring. After leaving wrestling, she said, she went on to pursue other dreams, and accomplished those, too. Most importantly, though, Lee said she went to therapy, and worked on turning all of her mental chaos into her very own superpower. Then, she turned her attention to Becky Lynch.
Lee said she wanted to like Becky, a fellow rebel and New York Times bestselling author. Lee said the pair could have been friends, but Lynch instead chose to “motorboat” and antagonize her husband. Out came Lynch after this, to a loud chorus of boos. She berated the crowd for a bit, and asking the “stupid” fans how they didn’t notice Lee was wearing Lynch’s belt.
Lee apologized and said she “forgot” she was wearing it, and had even worn it to bed over the weekend. She then mocked Lynch for the black eye she was hiding under her sunglasses, courtesy of Lee. After some more back and forth, Seth Rollins came down, and also demanded Lynch’s belt back. Lee said she could give it back, or Rollins and Lynch could agree to a tag team match.
Rollins had heard enough, and got into the ring. He tried to get the belt back, but Lee kept stepping in front of his way. After getting in Lee’s face, this was enough for CM Punk to come out, and he almost hit as GTS on Rollins before Seth got out of it and left the ring. In a rage, Rollins accepted the match, saying they’d face off at WWE’s Wrestlepalooza, on September 20, 2025.
